Vintage Love/9

...........needless to say, there hasn't been much progress on my lil Paisley Rose.   The man doing the work is totally over it:-(. In other words, he's tired of working on her).
It turns out that the repairs are more than he bargained for.    His work, so far, is just beautiful.  He's very meticulous..  I wish I had the money and he the patience to finish it right now but it seems that I'll bring her home unfinished and wait..........and wait............and wait on my husband to finish the repairs.  No camping by the river this fall.  I'm disappointed but not hopeless.
Take a peek at the repairs, so far.

Vintage Love/8

It seems like it's been forever since I've posted!  I've sold some items from my Etsy Shop so I've been a busy girl just crafting away.

Paisley Rose............I ordered the new trim for her today:->
I wasn't able to find it around here since she's vintage (doesn't that just sound better than "old", lol)   It's coming from Montana so it'll be a couple of days.

I think I've finally settled on the new fabric for her cushions.  I'll post a pic as soon as I'm absolutely sure about my decision.  Then I'll be sew sew sewing. It's pretty exciting.  I'll be crocheting some bunting for her as well because Lord knows, every lil darlin' Scotty needs bunting.  (Can you tell I'm having a blast???)

Thanks for checking out the progress.  Make sure you check back in a few days for another update............laters

Vintage Love/7

Well.........it's been a week today
since James picked up Paisley Rose to start on her repairs.  I have read enough blogs about restorations to know that there is always the possibility of finding many surprises when you start tearing into a vintage camper but I wasn't quite prepared for all that James has found.   If money (or I should say the lack of) wasn't an issue then I wouldn't even bat an eye but in all reality, it is.

My initial excitement has somewhat waned but James is sure being a good sport.  He's very competent and is eager for the experience.  I wish I could just turn him loose but for now, we are going to have to make the repairs in stages.  This means I won't be camping on a river bank any time soon.   I know, without doubt, that it was meant for me to buy this little tin can that I call Paisley Rose so I have to believe that it just isn't meant for me to be on the river bank as soon as I had hoped.  In the grand scheme of things, I have to remember that it's really not a huge deal.  I'm very fortunate to even have this opportunity.

In the end, she'll be good as new (probably even better) and I'll be sitting back enjoying Justa lil Freedom 2 Breathe.  I'll show ya a few pictures of the findings :-( and repairs, so far :-)..................laters

I know...........sad

It's very interesting to see how these little campers are put together

Surprise, James!!!  He was in deep concentration when I walked up and surprised him

Looking to see what shape the top is in

Progress.........first new side panel

Vintage Love/6

Happy Happy Happy!!!!

My lil darlin has gone to be repaired!

By the way, she finally has a name.........Paisley  Rose.  The story behind her name goes like this......I have always been crazy about the paisley.  I really can't tell you why, it's just one of those things.  I've even crocheted paisley's, lol.  Who does that?????  I chose Rose because of the vintage table cloth that I showed you back in the Vintage Beauty post.  It was passed to me from my aunt, my mom's sister, that just recently passed away.  It belonged to her grandmother, my great grandmother, before that.  It is one of those things you can't put a price on.  It is precious to me.  I do not plan to put it away and take it out only to look at, I plan to use it on the table in my lil camper.  It seemed only fitting that I call her Paisley  Rose.

I'll share some pictures as she's being pulled off to be repaired.....................laters

I cannot figure out why these pics are distorted but I'm pretty sure you'll still be able to see them.

Vintage Love/5

I should be leaving for work right now but I just wanted to take a minute to update you on the progress.....there is no progress as far as the repairs.  The man that was supposed to work on my camper is unable to do so at this point.  Hopefully work will begin not this coming weekend but the next.  A different gentleman came to look at it yesterday.  I am feeling encouraged by this.  In the meantime, I have been crafting a bit.  Check out the kitchen towel I made to hang in my lil darlin'.  These are also for sell in my Etsy Shop:  justpeaceshop.etsy.com
Hopefully there will be camper pics to share within the next couple of weeks.  Thanks for dropping by...........laters

A little art for my cart........

My first piece of art for my camper.  I'm not sure where I got this image.  I would happily recognize the original pinner if I could find it again.  This is a print that I transferred to a canvas.......laters

Vintage Love/3

So, it's been a minute since I posted anything but if you'll remember, the last thing I had "planned" to do to my lil Scotty was to rip out the carpet.  Well...........lookie lookie lookie what I found under the carpet!!!!

Can you believe how good it looks???  I mean, it's not beautiful and I'm certain I wouldn't have chosen it but I can definitely work with it.  At least I can keep it clean, unlike the nasty carpet.......if you could just see the big ol' grin I'm wearing :-)

Vintage Beauty

Ahhhh,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's no wonder I love vintage linens.  Look at this beautiful new/old tablecloth that now belongs to me.  It belonged to my great grandmother.  I wish I knew the story behind it.  I do know that the flowers appear to have been  hand appliquéd and the edging appears hand stitched as well.   I don't know if my great grandmother made it but isn't it lovely????

~Just Peace~

Well, it's been an unusual kind of week.  I haven't had the opportunity to do any work on my lil Scotty other than search for the perfect fabric for cushions and curtains.  I'm still searching :-)  I have been reading other blogs about vintage re-do's and find them super encouraging.   There is so much great advise and useful information to learn from fellow vintage lover's.  I have a confession:  I find myself going in my Little Lovely on a daily basis, even though no "visual" progress is being made.  It already feels like ~JUST PEACE~.....................laters

Vintage Love/2

Today I'm recovering from the two root canals I had yesterday.  Tomorrow I will be ripping out the old carpet.  I wonder what the floor covering underneath will look like?  Could be interesting........laters

Rain drops keep falling on my head.......

Well, with all the rain over the weekend, I didn't do any work on the outside of my camper.  After a quick, not thorough, cleaning, I took the measurements of all the cushions.  Sewing is something I can be doing while waiting on the repair work.  I do dread tearing out the damaged wood but I sure look forward to the finished product.  This is sooooo exciting!

Vintage Love

April 28, 2013

I am brand new to the blogging scene but I thought it'd be fun and maybe even enlightening to share my journey.

I just, this last week, bought a lil darlin' of a camper. I've been looking for several months and just knew I'd know it when I found "the one".  Well.............I happened up on her and now she's mine.  She's definitely the one :-)

She doesn't have a for sure name yet but she will very soon.  I grew up camping with my mom, dad and brother.  We made some of the happiest memories that all came rushing back and pulled at my heart strings the minute I saw her.

She was sitting in the backyard of someone that I didn't even know and she didn't even have a 'For Sale' sign on her.    It just so happened that the owner was sitting on his front porch so I did something totally out of character for me.   I stopped, got out, introduced myself, shook his hand, and asked him if he'd be interested in selling it.   He very kindly said "well, it needs some work but if you want to buy it, that'd be ok with me."   She's a 1978 Serro Scotty Sportsman.  He took me to look inside and I fell in love.  Yes, she needs some work.  There is quite a bit of water damage on one end and she has a few "character" dings on the outside but that didn't tarnish my vision.  I have some great plans for her.

It is my goal to document, with verse and pictures, the journey.  I hope you enjoy and maybe even give me some pointers along the way.

This and the next 7 photos are "before" shots.  This is the  front end of the camper with the water damage.  These photos also show the condition of the camper exactly as I purchased it.

Look at this retro wallpaper!  I would keep it if it matched the colors I plan to use but it doesn't.  Not sure if I'll re-paper or do something else.  What's your take on it?
All this came out of my lil jewel.  The tire is actually one that fits the camper.  It has a donut spare on it right now.  The next four photos are after the garbage has been emptied and a quick sweep.  I'm so impatient, I want the water damage fixed "yesterday" so I can get on with my part of the re-do.
The carpet has to go.  That's a definite change to come!
The stove top has quite a bit of rust on it.  Not sure, yet, how to clean it up.
